Documentary Project

 The documentary that I choose is Icarus. I picked this because I have been interested in this documentary for a while and wanted to see it.

    The scene that stuck with me the most was the one where Gregory asked Brian to help him leave the country for the US after it was discovered that Russia was doping illegally and Gregory took all the blame and resigned. His life was seriously threatened in this scene and I could feel that he was frightened and I was on edge and my heart was beating fast.

    I was most surprised by the way Gregory explained the cover-up of the illegal doping. I thought it would be a smarter way of falsifying data using a computer, but in fact, someone went into the facility and exchanged samples, which was highly intriguing and reminiscent of a spy film. 

    I questioned the fact that Russia was ultimately able to participate in the Rio Olympics even though the evidence Gregory presented made it clear that they were cheating doping. Why were they allowed to participate when the effects of the drugs may still be in their bodies? I remembered this incident and recalled that I felt even then that the Olympic Association and Russia might have made some kind of deal when I saw this documentary.
