The boy and the Heron (Open Topic)
I went to see 'Boy and the Heron' screened at the Chicago International Film Festival during Fall Break. This film is the latest work by Hayao Miyazaki, the director of Studio Ghibli's productions. I have loved Ghibli's works since I was a child and have seen almost all of them. This film has many similarities to characters and scenes from the previous Ghibli series, so I felt very close to the film. The title of this movie is "君たちはどう生きるか?" in Japanese, which means "How Do You Live?" and I thought it was a very appropriate title because at the end there is a scene where the main characters choose how they are going to live their lives.
The film was shown at a studio located at a station called Southport on the Brown Line. It was a bit far to get there by train, but it was a very trendy area. I didn't have an advance ticket, so my friend and I waited at the theater for about two hours before the show to buy tickets on the day of the show. However, there were a lot of people and the theater was full before my turn, but they let me and my friend in specially and we were able to see the movie. It was a very lucky day.
